On Friday, some of the finest pilots around the world will touch down on Maltese soil – The Red Arrows are coming. A worldwide guarantee for masses, the Royal Air Force aerobatic team’s The Red Arrows will be the main guests at the airX Malta International Airshow.
Thousands of people are expected to attend this 21st edition of the airshow, most of whom will be carrying photographic equipment that will be used to capture the best possible shots of one of the fastest attractions on earth, in one of Malta’s most photographed event.
The airX Malta International Airshow is a family event that not only offers a mixture of historical and modern aircraft but also an opportunity to chat with pilots and learn more about aviation.
“The Airshow is indeed an opportunity to have fun and learn at the same time,” said Malta Aviation Society president Joe Ciliberti. “It offers the rare opportunity to admire some of the most modern aircraft closely and learn more about these aircraft.”
Last Wednesday the organisers announced the participation of yet another aerobatic team, the Italian Pioneer Team, which has become one of the most requested in similar airshows worldwide.
“Our Airshow has grown over the years. Our credibility allows us to engage in discussions with various operators within the aviation industry who are mostly well aware of our Airshow, which testifies our positive reputation within the sector.
“Contacts are made throughout the year, but changes keep happening until the very last minute,” Mr Ciliberti explained.
As massive team of volunteers are finalising plans and preparations and Malta Aviation Society members keep receiving phone calls, particularly from photography enthusiasts, asking about the best area where to shoot the perfect photos from.
“All pilots aim to show off their skills and capabilities to the spectators who attend the show. Therefore the best place to be is, without any doubt, park 4 by the crown line, next to the static display,” advised Mr Ciliberti.
The society will also be advising enthusiasts about the arrival and departures of the various aircraft through its social media platforms – on Facebook and Twitter.
