Workers who suffered discrimination and injustice at work should not wait  years to get justice, Consumter Affairs Minister Helena Dalli, who is responsible for industrial relations, said this morning.

Speaking during a visit to the Department of Industrial Relations and Employment, she stressed that the Government expected the tribunal chairmen to hand down judgments in a reasonable time.

Last year, 16 per cent of cases before the tribunal took more than six months for a judgment to be given when the law stipulated that the tribunal should hand down judgments within a month.

There are currently 28 cases awaiting a decision, one of which has been pending for more than four years and two for more than two years.
