Archbishop Paul Cremona led the annual national pilgrimage to Lourdes, organised by the Maltese Society for the Transportation of the Sick to Lourdes.

The group’s sojourn proved to be a moving and healing experience for all. The five-day experience close to the grotto where Our Lady appeared to Bernadette has been described as a mental, physical and spiritual healing.

Mgr Cremona, Archbishop Emeritus Joseph Mercieca, priests, dame and barellieri, doctors, nurses and relatives all rallied around the sick to offer their help. It was particularly moving to see the first-timers giving their utmost and rising to the challenge to tend to the sick.

One of the highlights of this year’s pilgrimage was the celebration of Mass in the grotto by Mgr Cremona and Mgr Mercieca together with a number of Maltese priests and pilgrims who joined the celebration.

Anthony Falzon, an inspiring member of the society’s organising committee, who sadly passed away a few days before the pilgrimage, was sorely missed.
