At this time of the year, the Royal Malta Yacht Club (RMYC) regularly holds a regatta outside the Ramla Bay Resort waters for a weekend of sailing in one of the most scenic locations in our islands.

This year’s races, with the participation of 14 boats, were once again sponsored by Tommy Hilfiger and took off with the Friday afternoon keelboat passage race from Marsamxett to the north Comino channel in moderate wind.

The breeze stopped at the end of Saturday’s first race but picked up later for two Racer classes and one for the Cruisers.

Saturday was also the first day of the dinghy races in which a large number of Optimists, Lasers and Fevas took part, sailing on a trapezoidal course off Ramla Bay. In the evening, all sailors and friends were treated to a social gathering near the Ramla Bay Resort beach.

The last races were held in steady winds on Sunday morning, followed by a prize-giving ceremony before the keelboats sailed back to their berths in harbour.

For the second year running, the Ramla Bay Resort trophy winner in Racer Class 1 was Otra Vez, of Aaron and Edward Gatt Floridia.

Elusive II (Arthur Podesta) prevailed in the Cruiser Class.
