The cyclists and back-up team who rode from Belarus for St Petersburg in the Actavis LifeCycle Challenge 2013 last month arrived at Malta International Airport this afternoon.

Upon their arrival, they were greeted by Parliamentary Secretary for Research, Innovation, Youth and Sport, Stefan Buontempo, who congratulated them for this initiative and for the solidarity with others.

The cyclists pedaled a total of 2,000km in 10 days and collected €110,000 for Mater Dei's Renal Unit.

Set up in 1999, LifeCycle challengers have since raised around €1 million for the Renal Unit. They have also raised awareness about renal disease.

The public can donate via SMS on 5061 7370 (€2.33), 5061 8920 (€6.99) 5061 9229 (€11.65) or on landlines 5160 2020 (€10), 5170 2005 (€15) and 5180 2006 (€25). www.lifecyclechallenge.com
