On the day when Cameron lost control of the House and had his notion that someone should stick up for humanity shoved back in his face by the usual Lefty whining, our national attention was caught by a few holidaymakers who had the misfortune to book with a dodgy travel agent and a woman who "wanted to look more beautiful" but became the victim of an apparently botched job.

We weren't told which hospital or which surgeon were involved in the boob-job though we did get chapter and verse about the dodgy travel agent, which was a bit late in the day for the people who didn't notice that there were warnings about this outfit.

Well, if there were warnings about, I couldn't take an oath and confirm it, because I certainly don't remember them.

And for all that she was unlucky in her endeavours to make herself more babilicious, try as I try I can't work up much sympathy for the Aussie lady - it's bad enough when you have to have surgery for something life-threatening, when you choose to do it just to have more pronounced assets, well, sorry, something in me just wants to go "serves you right, silly girl".

Oh and I almost forgot, we even had our fancy tickled by a stencil-wielding vandal who thought it would be a cute wheeze to wield a spray can on the new structure in Valletta. Not exactly the most heinous of crimes, frankly, and hardly worth the column inches dedicated to it, and even more ridiculous were the comparisons made with Banksy, who doesn't use stencils and is an artist.

You have to wonder, though, why it is that the Brits think they have to stick their oar in whenever someone does something nasty in the world. Looked at another way, why is that people think they can let viciousness and hate flourish without doing anything about it?

I was listening to people talking about the issue and I confess I found myself swinging either way: GB is a small island with limited resources and you can see why people think they have enough on their plate without having to act as the Constable to the world Police Inspector. On the other hand, taking this sort of mealy-mouthed stance is so, well, what better word is there, so Milliband, that taking the higher moral ground becomes so much more attractive.

Oh well, as long as the Maltese Government is actively monitoring the situation in Syria, all is well with the world, even if our Foreign Minister is too busy holidaying to attend a meeting.
