A group of 115 irregular migrants landed early yesterday morning, the second to arrive in the span of 24 hours.

Their boat was escorted in to Haywharf by the Armed Forces of Malta at about 12.45am, with 102 men and 13 women on board.

The dinghy was located 90 miles off Malta on Monday and was monitored by the armed forces. A tug boat called Lega Nord was told by the Malta Rescue Centre to stay close to the dinghy until a patrol boat arrived on Tuesday afternoon.

The immigrants were later taken to the Floriana police headquarters.

On Tuesday morning 84 irregular immigrants were picked up from a sinking dinghy south of the island.
