A recent club diving trip to Filfla turned out to be a bit disappointing. As a scuba diver, one surly searches for marine life. Filfla, a protected area five kilometres south of Malta, seemed perfect, until you descend into the wide deep open water that surrounds it.
A shocking view hits you as you swim along, hardly seeing any marine life. One can notice tangled fishing nets and lines that are still attached to the seabed. It gets even worse when you reach the sandy empty seabed; it’s as if you are in a empty desert.
A blind person would also notice the marine life extinction. Stricter laws and more protection are needed so that marine life around Filfla can be bought back.
