Name: Renault Twizy Renaultsport F1 Concept.
Debut: Factory demonstration.

Appearance: It’s a Renault Twizy. With F1 wheels, an F1-style front spoiler, side pods, a completely bizarre rear wing and even a diffuser. Needless to say, you’ll either love it or hate it, but what a thing it is to behold.

It’s as though Renault let a five-year-old loose with a Twizy sketch and some crayons. The complete and utter (brilliant) pointlessness of the way it looks is only underlined by the fact that under the skin is bolted an F1-style Kers system.

Prediction: While that 36,000rpm, 80bhp Kers motor launches this Twizy concept to 60mph in the same time as Renault’s Megane 265 hot hatch, it’s also completely integrated into the normal 17bhp motor-generator, with the batteries drawing power from it when required.

This is the sort of technology that makes the Twizy appealing, but there’s no way Renault will build it. Shame.

Rating: 10/10.
