The hunting federation will have a zero-tolerance policy towards illegal hunting, especially involving poachers who target protected species.

In a statement yesterday, the FKNK said it is not prepared to accept anyone who tarnishes the image of traditional and legal hunting and trapping.

Regulations for the autumn hunting season were announced by the Government on Tuesday.

It will last from September 1 to January 31, with a curfew imposed between 7pm and two hours before sunrise from September 15 until October 7.

The FKNK said the Government granted all three of conservation NGO Birdlife’s proposals for the autumn season.

These were for a hunting season that was not fixed, that shorter fixed autumn hunting seasons for the turtle dove and the quail should not be imposed, and that a curfew should be retained and extended into the first week of October.
