The 30-strong contingent taking part in the Actavis 2013 Lifecycle challenge left yesterday for Minsk in Belarus, from where they will cycle 2,000km through the Baltic States to St Petersburg to raise money for the Renal Unit.

This year’s event has proved to be the hardest to organise of the 15 editions, with numerous logistical challenges with regard to visas, and Custom clearance for the truck which delivered the bicycles and kitchen equipment to Belarus.

The team was seen off by Parliamentary Secretary for Sport Stefan Buontempo.

The public can donate via SMS on 5061 7370 (€2.33), 5061 8920 (€6.99) 5061 9229 (€11.65) or on landlines 5160 2020 (€10), 5170 2005 (€15) and 5180 2006 (€25). Follow the team’s progress on www.lifecyclechallenge.com or on Facebook.
