For the second consecutive year, APS Funds Sicav is sponsoring one of the cyclists participating in the Actavis 2013 LifeCycle Challenge.

APS Funds Sicav encapsulates corporate social responsibility within its investment products and services, in line with the ethos of the APS Group. In fact, the first retail ethical fund in Malta was launched by APS Sicav last year.

Founded in 1999, LifeCycle Challenge aims to raise funds for medical equipment at Mater Dei Hospital’s renal unit, and it strives to improve the quality of life of patients suffering from the debilitating illness of kidney failure by allowing them access to the highest standards of healthcare. This year’s 15th edition of the LifeCycle Challenge will involve a gruelling 2,000-kilometre journey from Minsk in Belarus to St Petersburg in Russia, passing through the Baltic States. This year’s goal is to set up a specialised immunological blood testing unit for pre-transplant blood checking at the hospital, as well as for home dialysis units.

Fund manager Sandro Baluci said such community-oriented initiatives deserve to be encouraged, along the lines of other community-orientated support programmes offered by APS Bank in various fields, including sports, heritage and culture.
