A nurse who in 2008 was transferred from Mater Dei Hospital to the airport clinic and then to Mt Carmel Hospital and allegedly suffered sexual harassment, today filed a judicial protest against the Superintendent of Public Health and the Chief Government Medical Officer, holding them responsible for damages.

Jane Carabott said that she had worked as a nurse for many years and served in Fairyland Ward in St Luke's Hospital for 15 years, giving the best possible service. But without warning, explanation or justification in 2008 she was suddenly transferred to the airport clinic.

She was kept in a state of bureaucratic limbo for seven months until she was transferred to Mt Carmel Hospital, where she suffered unacceptable working conditions.

After complaints to the MUMN nurses' union and the Ombudsman, she was eventually moved back to the airport. She said she was the victim of sexual harassment by a doctor and an investigation was launched by the National Commission for the Promotion of Equality. She was then subjected to actions aimed at undermining her credibility.

Dr Roberto Montalto signed the protest.
