Four migrants on board a dinghy headed to Sicily were medically evacuated by the Armed Forces of Malta last night after they requested medical assistance. Two were pregnant.

The other migrants on the dinghy proceeded towards Italy as an AFM patrol boat oversaw their journey from close by.

Italy assumed responsibility for the migrant craft when this entered the Italian search and rescue region at around 9.10am.

A group of 111 migrants arrived in Malta on a dinghy yesterday. Another group rescued by a merchant ship were refused entry into Maltese territorial waters.
