Express Group’s fleet of trailers covered 4,241,305 kilometres in 2012, across a network of routes from Malta through mainland Europe and beyond.

Its fleet which, including trucks and trailers, amounts to 330, is the backbone of Express Group which is today recognised as one of Malta’s leading transport and logistics companies. This fleet is managed through a satellite tracking management system which includes a live temperature-reading facility for temperature-controlled transport available to the client while the cargo is in transit to final destination. All stages of the logistical operation are handled by expert personnel.

Customers know their cargo is in very safe hands and that’s all they need to know,” said Johann Vella, general manager of Express Group.

Express Group can also handle cargo in transit. Two years ago, the company invested in the building of two temperature-controlled warehouses located adjacent to the head office.

“These warehouses opened up new opportunities for the company,” added Mr Vella. “We now operate customs-bonded private warehouses, licensed to store goods awaiting payment of duties or in transit. This means that we have all the required resources, knowledge, experience and most importantly all the infrastructure in place to become the extended arm of the client’s supply chain, as would be required from a professional third party logistics operator.”

Besides acting as a consolidation point for high-profile brands trading into North Africa, Express Group is also active in the cross-docking sector, handling cargo from non-EU countries, keeping it in bonded warehousing till re-exportation avoiding clients unnecessary cash flow burden, putting cargo in free circulation in Malta and re-distributing the cargo all over Europe.
