Jean Karl Soler was recently awarded the degree of Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Ulster.
His doctoral thesis, entitled Episodes of Care in Family Medicine in Three Countries: Looking for Similarities Among the Differences, was written with the aim of studying the diagnostic process in family medicine and understanding whether data on the diagnostic process is transferrable between countries.
The graduation ceremony was held in Coleraine, Northern Ireland.
Dr Soler’s is the first Maltese PhD on family medicine; it was based on a research project which involved data from Maltese family practice.
