A Romanian woman has admitted burning stolen masterpieces by Picasso, Monet and Matisse, according to media reports.

The seven works of art were stolen from a Netherlands art museum last October.

Now some media reports say a Romanian woman, thought to be the mother of one of the suspected thieves, has admitted burning the masterpieces, worth tens of millions of dollars, to destroy the evidence.

The stolen works included Monet's 'Waterloo Bridge, London, De Haan's Autoportrait and Gaugin's Femme devant une fenetre ouverte.
