3,750 lts of milk and milk products were destroyed last month by inspectors of the Environmental Health Directorate.

In its monthly report, the directorate said that 472 improvement notices were issued to food business operators and 32 to open market stalls.

Food items which were destroyed included

The amount of foodstuffs destroyed by the Health Inspectorate was 21638.24kgs and 3.75lts of milk and milk products.

These foodstuffs included:

Sultanas (20.6 kg); Baby food (0.8 kg), Confectionery items (258.41kg) Meat and poultry products (5716.10 kg), Frozen vegetables (1648.35 kg) Sauces (117.60 kg) Delicatessen (0.460 kg) Frozen bakery (13626.32 kg) and Yogurt drinks (249.60 kg).

Illegal Advertisements

Eight adverts involving tobacco products, including electronic cigarettes in breach of Tobacco (Smoking Control) Act were noticed on local internet sites and the respective advertisers and webmasters were instructed to remove them.

One advert of tattoo equipment was also noted to be in contravention of the Control of Tattooing Act.
