The Maltese Under-18 basketball team are playing in the women’s FIBA European Championship Division C tournament to be hosted by Andorra between today and next Saturday.

Four teams are taking part in the competition – Gibraltar, Wales, Malta and Andorra.

The Maltese girls start their tournament matches against Wales this evening and play their second match against Gibraltar tomorrow. Their next qualifier will be against Andorra on Wednesday.

The classification matches will be played between Friday and Saturday.

National coach Sandro Farrugia is relying on a squad that is practically unchanged from the selection that won a bronze medal in the FIBA Europe U-16 tournament two years ago.
