San Ġiljan Sir Alex’s new signing Dino Zammit has repaid the Saints’ trust with his top-class performances so far this summer earning him the BOV Player of the Month award for June in the Premier Division.

Zammit was instrumental in San Ġiljan’s victory over Exiles last month, where he netted no fewer than seven goals to keep the pressure on unbeaten leaders Neptunes Emirates.

He also scored six of his team’s nine goals in another league match against Balluta Bay rivals Neptunes.

It is to be noted that Zammit, currently representing Malta at the European Championship qualifying tournament, is the first player to break Steve Camilleri’s stronghold on the award which was introduced two years ago.

Ta’ Xbiex Amigos youngster Andreas Galea is making a name for himself in the First Division while also featuring strongly for the Under-17 national team which took part in the Mediterranean Cup in Rome earlier this month.

With a string of consistently positive performances and a killer instinct in front of goal, Galea has become a permanent fixture on the Ta’ Xbiex scoresheet to claim the award for June in his category.

Ta’ Xbiex were on the receiving end of six goals by Galea in a non-league match against the ASA Under-17 selection.

Anthony Scicluna, Chief Officer at Bank of Valletta, recently presented the BOV monthly awards to Zammit and Galea.

The presentation, in the presence of ASA president Joe Caruana Curran, was held at Tal-Qroqq’s National Pool Complex.
