Basketball referee Bernard Vassallo will be in action on the European scene once again next week after receiving an important FIBA nomination for the men’s U-18 European Championships (Division A) in Latvia between July 18 and 24.

Matches in this tournament will be played in four cities – Liepaja, Ventspils, Grobina and Riga.

Vassallo, who closed the past season on a positive note following a prestigious appointment in the FIBA EuroLeague Final Eight in Russia, will be based in Liepaja for the group stage where matches from Group C, made up of Spain, Italy, Bulgaria and hosts Latvia, as well as Group D, comprising Greece, Russia, England and defending champions Croatia, will be played.

The other finalists in the U-18 Europeans are Lithuania, Serbia, Slovenia and France (Group A) and Greece, Russia, Bosnia and the Czech Republic (Group B).
