A third salesgirl involved in what the police believe to be a huge theft of clothing from Terranova yesterday admitted her involvement in court and was conditionally discharged.

Maria Victoria Agius, 21, from Paola, admitted taking clothing in July 2010 from the Paola branch of the clothing chain.

Magistrate Claire Stafrace Zammit conditionally discharged Ms Agius for three years, after taking into consideration the fact she had reimbursed the company by not taking a wage worth some €800.

She is the third person to be arraigned over the theft, which the police believe amounts to more than €11,000 of stock stolen from the shop.

In separate proceedings, Sabrina Chetcuti, 24, from Marsascala, is accused of taking €11,000 worth and is pleading not guilty.

Another salesgirl, Noella Agius, also admitted stealing and was conditionally discharged for six months.
