A shop assistant, Maria Agius 21, of Paola was conditionally discharged today after admitting to stealing clothes from Terranova in the Main Street Complex in Paola.

Her employers withheld some €800 from her salary as compensation.

This was the third arraignment in connection with the case. Last month, Sabrina Chetcuti, 24 of Marsascala, was accused of stealing up to €11,000 worth of clothes. She pleaded not guilty of whittling away the items together with colleagues and said the value was nothing like what she was being accused of.

A third shop assistant, Noella Agius, had admitted theft and was conditionally discharged.

Drs Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri were counsel for Maria Agius.
