The Tenchi Ryu Kempo Karate Club held belt-testing exams for its junior students at the Gozo Sports Complex, in Victoria, last Sunday.

The children had to perform techniques, including Kihon (kicks and punches), Ukemi (break falls), Bunkai (application of techniques) and Kumite (sparring both empty-handed and with sticks).

The students competed according to their respective grades for three hours and performed most of their tasks with senior members, showing confidence and fluency in technique.

The Tenchi Ryu Kempo Karate Club is the official representative of the Kempo Arnis Federation. It will be holding a two-day international seminar in October, which will be conducted by Shihan Borut Kincl, 7th Dan founder and head instructor of the KAF.

Also on the agenda is a belt-testing session for senior students and an Arnis (stick fighting) tournament, to be held under the International Modern Arnis Federation Philippines rules.
