The Malta U-17 national team lost their opening match at the 2013 Comen Cup when they went down to Greece 15-5 in Ostia yesterday.

The Greeks were a cut above the Maltese youngsters yesterday as they surged to a clear 8-2 lead by the end of the second session.

Anthony Farrugia’s boys tried to limit the damage in the final two sessions but the Greeks kept hitting the goals at regular intervals to finish comfortable winners.

Matteo Camillo Camici scored Malta’s goals yesterday.

Today, the U-17s will be in action twice when they face Italy at 12.30pm and then play Serbia at 8.30pm.
