The Parliamentary Secretary for Animal Rights, Roderick Galdes, said today that he had dropped his complaint against Eugene Galea, 54, from Lija, who has been accused in court of harassing him and driving dangerously.

The case, however, is continuing as it was launched by the police and allegedly happened in a public place.

Mr Galea was taken to court after causing a disturbance outside Mr Galdes's office, blocking the road to the parliamentary secretary's car and causing a disturbance in the offices.

Taking the witness stand this morning, Mr Galdes said that prior to the incident, he had met Mr Galea regarding alleged abuses in the Animal Welfare Department and then ordered an inquiry.

Mr Galdes said he had received two facebook messages form Eugene Galea. One praised him and the other alleged that he had hidden evidence about goings on in the Animal Welfare Department. He felt threatened by the second message and following the incident outside his office, he had passed both messages to the police, Mr Galdes said.

He said he had forgiven Mr Galea and was dropping charges against him.
