Euro Media Forum, in collaboration with the Institute for Maltese Journalists, is holding a discussion titled Journalism and Politics in Film, focusing on the timeless legacy left by one of the greatest classics, All the President’s Men.

The film explains the troubles and tribulations of two young journalists uncovering the Watergate scandal, which eventually led to US President Nixon having to leave his office. It exposes the power of serious journalism when it comes to restoring justice.

Speaker Rosemarie Dorekens, who wrote a dissertation about journalism and film, will be helped by moderator Fleur Vella to delve into how the portrayal of journalists in film has changed over time.

The speaker, who is also a journalist by profession, will speak about the difficulties faced by real journalists today to uncover and publish political scandals.

Dorekens will also explain how citizen journalism is shaping the journalistic world. The discussion will also centre on what All the President’s Men communicates to persons wishing to embark on a journalistic career.

To spice up the evening there will also be a film quiz, with the opportunity to win great prizes.

The event is being held tomorrow at Palazzo de Piro, Mdina, at 7 pm. Tickets at €10 per person, including wraps and a glass of wine, are available from Palazzo de Piro. Booking can be made by sending an e-mail to euromediaforum@gmail.com or by sending an SMS to 9945 4066.
