The MRI equipment at Mater Dei Hospital broke down during a normal maintenance procedure yesterday morning.

The Ministry for Health immediately decided to outsource the service so patients requiring an MRI test can still be accommodated. In fact, those having appointments at the Radiology Department for an MRI are being temporarily referred to the private sector. Patients are being contacted and informed about these developments.

Servicing of the MRI equipment at Mater Dei is expected to take at least three weeks.
