A total 82,000 students of English spent more than €135 million in Malta last year making the sector an important economic segment, Feltom, the Federation of English Language Teaching Organisations Malta said today.

In a statement it referred to yesterday’s Isle of MTV concert and said that such events continued to make Malta an attractive destination for the teaching of English.

“Being Malta’s foremost ambassadors, the foreign students attending yesterday’s Isle of MTV will continue to showcase their experience here in Malta as thousands of photos were posted on social media sites.”

Feltom said that a hive of musical and cultural activities were making Malta more visible to foreign students who wanted to learn English.

“Building on its already strong reputation as a centre of excellence, Malta is becoming the destination of choice for learning English in a unique location.”

Investment in such events and other tourism related projects which continue to make Malta more attractive was also an investment in the English language teaching sector.
