The Malta Developers Association this afternoon welcomed Government and MEPA’s decision for the automatic renewal of permits but said it was not what it had requested.
The MDA had asked for a one time concession for permits issued in the past five years on which works had not yet started to be automatically renewed.
It said in its statement that although the decision was "a positive step", it was not what it had requested.
Earlier this week, the Government announced a one-year extension for permits issued after August 2006 when the local plans were approved.
A number of developers had permits but did not start works because of the prevalent negative climate of the property market.
