A court this morning rejected an application by a director of GO plc to stop the company from taking disciplinary proceedings against him for alleged sexual harassment of the company's HR manager.

The director, Engineer Joseph Agius, has been accused by the HR manager of sexual harassment.

Mr Agius had told the court that the alleged victim headed the department which had to initiate the disciplinary proceedings.

The company replied that the disciplinary proceedings were administered, in this instance, by the Board of Directors and the HR manager had no authority to nominate anyone to the disciplinary board.

The court said it was satisfied that there were sufficient safeguards in place to ensure that this case was considered in a fair manner by the disciplinary board, and the alleged victim was not involved in its appointment. Nor could she influence its members.
