Further to last Sunday’s editorial (‘Mallia’s prison carnival’) regarding the recently given amnesty I would like to ask whether minister Manuel Mallia or the President have at least included a simple clause in granting the amnesty that should convicts be found guilty again of any offence which is punishable even by a suspended jail sentence, these convicts will have to serve this amnesty or double the days granted.

At least through this measure convicts will know that nothing is obtained for free. Meanwhile, may I propose that such amnesties are abolished once and for all to avoid hurting the victims of crime.
