Progress Press and Maltapost have signed a €1.7 million deal with Hotspot Enterprises for the printing and distribution respectively of Hotspot magazine.

The agreement will ensure the three-year-old magazine will continue to be printed in Malta. Readers of the monthly catalogue magazine will be able to use their mobile phones to link to information about advertised products, thanks to QR coding used in the adverts.

Readers will also be able to purchase the advertised product in what the company calls smartbuy, which Marlor Caruana, managing director of Hotspot, said would give advertisers a 24-hour selling platform.

The service agreement with Progress Press and Maltapost is the largest commitment in volume for the two entities.
