The Labour Party spokesmen have developed a mantra echoed all over the country which, in various guises and forms, goes something like: the PN has learnt nothing and the PN seem to have forgotten they got a drubbing. Talk of being magnanimous in victory and humble when you floor an opponent.

I’ve said over and over again and I’ll go on till I’m hoarser and hoarier—Labour won and won handsomely or rather the PN lost and lost terribly. But so what? The world needs to move on and Labour cannot go on thinking they do no wrong, mantra or no mantra.

If Tonio Fenech accepted a tal-lira clock this means nothing to me. Jail the man if he is proved to be corrupt but that does not give you carte blanche to do whatever you think fit.

I am totally sick—just a few days after the honeymoon period when all should be rosy and nice—of hearing what a shambles the PN left and of the mess in finances. Call in the ones who are accountable, haul them up in front of a judge or jury and, if they are proved guilty, let’s shoot the culprits or lock them up and throw away the key. If the great majority of electors voted you in and your mandate is to clear the warts and cobwebs, this is what they want to see the Government do.

If you can’t deliver and all we are going to hear is how terrible the PN were at their job so all you do or don’t do is excusable, then give up and let’s get someone else to run down this country. Install the Greens or the Imperium Sovranum, the Rambling lot or the Hunters’ Association in your stead. Or a grand coalition of the whole lot who always said life under the PN was hell and that it was going to be heaven without the evil clique. But stop saying the PN were as bad as you and stop recounting their sins.

Crimes of omission or commission have a way of ending up in court—so get on with it and accuse the guilty. Start with Tonio Fenech and his silly cuckoo-clock—you no longer have the excuse that you are not in a position to do this. And please can Joseph Muscat stop the smirking—it hardly suited when he lacked power but now smirks and snide remarks give the impression of a most obnoxious kid.

Quit the mantra and dump the excuses and please get on with governing the country. Malta needs positive action not repeated accusations which are never substantiated.

The electors chose Labour for a new way of doing politics not for a different set of clowns.
