Match-fixing: Swedish fourth-tier side Syrianska Kerburan have taken the unusual step of reporting themselves to police over suspicions of match-fixing. Bookmakers stopped taking money on Syrianska’s home league game against Kvarnshedens IK after large bets were placed on the away side. Syrianska lost the tie 5-1. The club said they took the “unanimous decision” to report the situation to police to ensure a thorough investigation takes place and to clear their name.

Sousa: Israeli champions Maccabi Tel Aviv have appointed Portuguese coach Paulo Sousa on a two-year contract. Sousa, 42, moved to Maccabi from Hungarian side Fehervar. He previously coached the Portuguese U-16 national side and had stints in England over a three-year stretch with Queens Park Rangers, Swansea City and Leicester City.

Aspas: Liverpool have agreed a deal in principal to sign Celta Vigo forward Iago Aspas. The transfer, believed to be costing the Reds about £7.7 million, will be finalised once the necessary documentation has been completed. The 25-year-old becomes manager Brendan Rodgers’ second signing of the summer, having already brought in Kolo Toure on a free transfer.

Johnson: Aston Villa have confirmed midfielder Daniel Johnson has signed a new two-year deal with the club. The Jamaica-born 20-year-old, who is yet to make his senior Villa debut, joined the midlands outfit’s academy in 2010 and had a loan spell last season with Yeovil, featuring in five matches. Johnson said: “I’m really happy to have signed the new contract.”

Leverkusen: Bayer Leverkusen have signed South Korean forward Son Heung-min from Hamburg SV. The 20-year-old Son, who was outstanding last season, signed a five-year deal with Leverkusen, paving the way for Andre Schuerrle’s transfer to Chelsea.

U-17 friendly: Malta vs Austria 0-1.
