Local web developer ICON were entrusted with the revamp of this luxury landmark property’s web portal. ICON’s Christine Falzon, a hospitality and digital industry veteran, explained that with an ever-increasing number of people surfing the web with tablet devices and smartphones, a responsive website was an important factor when it came to receiving more traffic and more reservations.

The revamped website has better levels of social media integration consistent with the hotel’s core guest profile. It also offers an extension of the hotel’s corporate social responsibility programme to promote Valletta and support the cultural calendar across the Maltese islands, with the What’s On section containing an updated list of events and happenings in Valletta with tips on how to access these.

General Manager Charles Azzopardi expects to see Phoenicia increase its market share of direct web-channel sales: “While we are rolling out more multi-lingual elements, we also expect to see an increase in activity from specific target markets in calendar periods that work better for our type of boutique property.
