Lawlessness in Wild West Sliema

Most readers will not care about the horrendous increase in lawlessness in Sliema.

Bars are allowed to disturb neighbours till all hours and the refurbished lidos play music at loud volumes without check. The degree of lawlessness allowed in Sliema is mind boggling. The lidos build new structures and expand without a whisper of lament or the shadow of a permit.

Most residents have given up trying to stop people parking in front of their garages. The police are polite but do not do much.

This not including CD cars parking at will, wherever, with impunity.

It seems that what we need are another couple of skyscrapers to make sure that roads, power and water supplies, drainage and the air we breathe are truly overloaded.

The only readers who are nodding their heads are those who live in Sliema and some other Wild West localities.

Drowning in my self pity, as no one else in power will pity me, I must not forget to mention the useless wardens.

Alas not totally useless as some will quickly punish the law-abiding, low profile residents who, meanwhile, have the impression they are conniving with the developers, bar and lido owners.

I would have stopped writing earlier but the noise from the lidos is keeping me awake. The phone call to the police did not help either but I am not going out in case I get mugged. Perhaps I ought to run for mayor?
