A Bulgarian trade union delegation last Wednesday visited Victoria Primary School, accompanied by Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) president Kevin Bonello.
The delegation forms part of Podkrepa, the second largest trade union for educators in Bulgaria.
The delegation was made up of president Julian Petrov, vice-president Georgi Shoshev, general secretaries Emilia Mircheva and Milena Mavrodieva and EU affairs officer Elena Nalbantova. The aim of the visit was to strengthen collaboration between the two trade unions and to provide a snapshot of our educational system.
Earlier this year, an MUT delegation visited Sofia, where they had the opportunity to understand better the educational system and operation of trade unions in Bulgaria.
Visits are being held in schools in different sectors with the aim of sharing good practices and providing a link for future projects between local and Bulgarian schools.
In Gozo, the delegation was entertained to a show by the schoolchildren, followed by a cultural tour of the island.
