“This win should strengthen our confidence. If we play like that we can make it difficult for any team,” he said.
“With regards to my performance, goalkeepers are always happy when they keep a clean sheet. I didn’t concede a goal (against Armenia) and that’s good but everyone played their part.
“We responded well when Armenia upped the pressure. We kept our positions and communicated well... I did my best to guide and encourage my team-mates.”
The 1-0 win over Armenia put a glossy seal on a glorious season for Haber.
After joining Birkirkara from Mosta in January, he quickly made the no.1 shirt his own. Haber’s reassuring presence in goal galvanised the Stripes who went on to win the championship after beating Hibernians in a title decider.
“What can I say, this win caps a great year for me,” Haber enthused.
“I’ve won the league and I’m also a finalist for the MFA Footballer of the Year award.
“I’m also proud to have been part of this Malta team to attain this memorable victory for our country as the last goalkeeper to achieve the same feat was the great David Cluett.
“I must thank the coach for showing faith in me and I’m de-lighted that I’ve repaid his trust.”
