Mario Gomez is on the verge of leaving Bayern Munich, although Napoli is not his likely destination, according to the player’s agent Uli Ferber
Gomez, who found himself as second-choice striker for much of the season after missing the first three months due to injury, still has a contract with Bayern until 2016.
The former Stuttgart striker is considering his future with Bayern, though, and talks with his agent and the Bavarian club towards the end of the week should clarify where he will be playing next season.
“All will be cleared in the next three or four days,” said Ferber.
“Gomez will opt for the best solution.”
One of those potential solutions appears to be a move to the Premier League with Germany’s Stuttgarter Zeitung suggesting Chelsea and Manchester City are running the rule over the Germany striker.
Napoli and Serie A rivals Fiorentina, who have also been touted as likely takers, are not regarded as serious candidates, however.
“If I had been talking with all of the clubs mentioned, then I would have been spending my days travelling,” said Ferber to Sport1 television.
“We have never entered into any negotiations with Napoli. We will make our position clear at the end of the week.”
Bayern signed Gomez from Stuttgart in 2009 for €35 million.
