Bank of Valletta staff were recently able to indulge their love of reading while raising money for animal NGO Happy Paws during a corporate social responsibility event organised for them by the bank.

Staff members were encouraged to bring books, swap them and make a donation to Happy Paws. The organisation provides a free neutering service of circa nine dogs and 16 cats a day, while promoting a stray dog adoption scheme that has homed over 170 dogs.

Happy Paws is a non-profit organisation dedicated to the stray animal community in Malta, so much so that it has cut down hugely on the number of strayanimals in Malta.

The charity’s main focus is to provide strays with a range of medical services and is supported through charity shops, sponsorships, donations and fundraising events.

Spare books collected during the book-swap were donated to Happy Paws to be sold through their shop in Santa Venera, which is open from 9am to 1pm and from 4 to 7pm, Mondays to Fridays, and on Saturdays from 9am to 1pm.
