The attractive cliff point known as L-Aħrax tal-Mellieħa was spoiled by a large volume of dumped rubble last week.

A truck dumped the construction waste close to the clifftop’s quaint chapel, witnesses told The Sunday Times of Malta. The dumping took place at l-Irdum tal-Madonna in a Natura 2000 site.

The Ministry of Transport said it was looking into the case. This newspaper provided the authorities with the number plate of the truck in question, which appeared to be a government vehicle.

No further information was available by the time of going to print.
