The two major bands in Gozo, the Leone Band and La Stella Band, both of Victoria, recently put up their respective exhibitions commemorating important events in their calendars.

Resounding Gozo –150 Years of Music from Gozo and its Inhabitants was the title of the Leone Band, which was established in 1863.

The exhibition featured several historical artefacts related to the band’s 150 years of existence. Among the exhibits were mementos and achievements throughout its history, including a bozzetto and a hand-drawn sketch of the Aurora Theatre by Emvin Cremona. The exhibition also had a section dedicated to the Aurora Folk Group.

Meanwhile, the La Stella Band exhibition was split into three sections – The Band, The Feast and The Theatre. The exhibition consisted of old musical instruments, historical documents, feast decorations and a fireworks section.

Also included were several exhibits belonging to the Astra Theatre, including costumes and other objects connected with opera and a section dedicated to the Astra Folk Group.
