Independent study shows HP Original ink is superior

An independent study by Buyers Laboratory has confirmed the superior quality and reliability of Original HP ink cartridges, compared to refilled or remanufactured alternatives.

The study found that, on average, Original HP ink cartridges print up to 50 per cent more pages than the tested refilled or remanufactured alternatives.

Additionally, the study revealed that Original HP ink cartridges worked every time. In contrast, more than 40 per cent of the refilled or remanufactured ink cartridges tested either did not work at all or stopped working prematurely.

The causes of failure of the refilled and remanufactured cartridges varied, but for black refilled cartridges included immediate fade, streaking and ink leakage, and for tri-colour cartridges, colour mix was the main cause. For the remanufactured cartridges tested, the main cause of failure in both black and tri-colour cartridges was streaking.

The Buyers Laboratory study clearly showed that second-hand print cartridges are significantly inferior to Original HP cartridges in terms of reliability and page yield. They are more likely to cause streaking, leaking or fading than Original HP cartridges.
