A 23-year-old man has been sentenced to a year in jail after he ignored court warnings to stop driving without insurance and a licence.

Burgh Spiteri, from Valletta, was found driving without a licence and insurance cover in June and August 2010.

He was arraigned and also charged with breaching the conditions of a probation order and relapsing.

Magistrate Francesco Depasquale noted that as Mr Spiteri was a repeat offender he had no option but to imprison him. Police Inspector Maria Stella Attard prosecuted.
