Most of the eleven equities active today ended this morning’s session of the stock exschange unchanged. Malta International Airport plc failed to hold on to an intra-day high of €2.01 to close unchanged at the €2.00 level on three deals totalling 15,600 shares. In the IT sector, RS2 Software plc held on to its all-time high of €1.16 across 29,000 shares and Crimsonwing plc maintained is 2013 high of €0.57 on volumes of 16,500 level.

High volumes were traded in FIMBank plc with 185,000 shares changing hands during this morning’s session with the share price easing from an intra-day high of US$1.02 to close unchanged at the US$1.00 level. The trade finance specialist is still waiting for regulatory approval with respect to the deal with Burgan Bank and United Gulf Bank which will ultimately end up as majority shareholders.

Similarly, 7,316 International Hotel Investments plc shares traded unchanged at the equity’s 2013 high of €0.90 level in anticipation of the conclusion of the sale of the twelve luxury apartments in London. Meanwhile, Island Hotels Group Holdings plc shares remained subdued with a further 12,000 shares changing hands at the equity’s all-time low of €0.55 across three deals.

Shallow activity was evident in Middlesea Insurance plc and MIDI plc with only 570 shares and 2,000 shares changing hands respectively. Middlesea maintained the €0.85 level and MIDI continued to trade at its all-time low of €0.25.

Meanwhile, Bank of Valletta plc edged minimally higher to regain the €2.24 level on high volumes of 31,321 shares. Similarly, the share price of Simonds Farsons Cisk plc edged 0.4% higher to regain the €2.57 level across two deals totalling 4,000 shares.

On the other hand, HSBC Bank Malta plc eased 0.2% lower to close at the €2.64 level on volumes of 24,630 shares.

On the bond market, the Rizzo Farrugia MGS Index edged marginally higher to 1,020.868 points as Eurozone yields floated around the 1.44% level amid a quiet session given that no trading is taking place in the UK and the US due to a bank holiday.

Locally, the Treasury of Malta is expected to publish the results of the Malta Government Stock issues later on this afternoon.
