Nineteen Chiswick House School pupils recently sat for the English Speaking Board (ESB) Junior Grade exam. They had to memorise and recite a poem, read aloud from a book of their choice, present and speak about a topic of interest to them, and finally reply to questions from the audience and take part in a discussion. Sixteen pupils obtained a distinction while three were awarded a merit plus endorsed. British examiner Peter Ellis (pictured) chose two of the candidates, Maya Galea and Rebecca Zammit Pace, to present part of their exam material at the ESB memorial event held last Wednesday.
