Students and teachers from Ġio­vanni Curmi Higher Secondary School, Naxxar, recently took part in the European Scientific Committee on Thermalism European Schools Gala 2013 in Montecatini, Italy.

The festival’s aim is for students to experience art, culture, sport, friendship and thermal wellness in a European atmosphere, and benefit from personal, educational and cultural enrichment.

The Maltese boys’ and womens’ teams ranked fourth in the music volley tournament and fourth in the men’s five-a-side football tournament. The teachers delivered a presentation, entitled Twinning for Community Learning: Nurturing Didactics in Municipalities.

The Maltese group also competed with other European schools for the best three-minute video produced by the school on the link between young people and thermal wellness.

The Maltese delegation included teachers Phyllisienne Gauci and Maria Brown and students Vincent Agius, Daniel Cini, Kira Cutajar, Lou Cacciattolo, Daniel Grech, Kimberley Camilleri, Kristina Farrugia, Philip Ellul and Jade Aquilina.
