Obituary

MICALLEF – Chev. Capt. LINO (of The Bulletin) passed away peacefully on May 22, aged 91. He is deeply mourned by his wife Mariuccia, his children Ivan and Maria, Stefan and Ariela and Bernard, his beloved grandchild-ren Kirsten and her husband Kristin, Kyle, Kurt and Salomé-Hannah, his sister Rosa, his brothers Aldo, Edwin, Louis and Henry and their respective families, relatives and friends. A funeral service will be held today at 2.30pm at Stella Maris parish church, Sliema, followed by interment at the Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. The family regret they cannot receive visitors at home. Donations, if desired, to Id-Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

MIFSUD SPERANZA. On May 23, at Mater Dei Hospital, MICHELINA (Lina), aged 80, of Birżebbuġa, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her husband Derek, her child-ren Janie and her husband Joe Cini, Marchelle and her husband Louis Camilleri, and Josette and her husband Charles Scerri, her grandchildren Claire, Victoria, Daniel, Jessica and Marija, her sister-in-law Theresa and her husband John Tennyson from Scotland, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 7.45am for St Peter’s parish church, Birżebbuġa, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.30am followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Puttinu Cares will be greatly appreciated. Lord, grant her eternal rest. The family regret they are unable to receive visitors.

ZAMMIT – ELENITA. On the first anniversary of her passing. Remembering mama’ with love and gratitude. Erminiette and Joe, Tony, Melvin, Edwin and Marisa, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Today’s 6.30pm Mass at Luqa parish church and the 11.30am Mass said on May 26 at the Sanctuary of Divine Mercy, San Pawl tat-Tarġa, will be offered for her repose. Lord, grant her eternal rest.

Open day at GAIA

The Gaia Foundation, a non-profit NGO based in Għajn Tuffieħa that specialises in coastal zone management, will be opening its doors to the public tomorrow from 9am to 4pm, with a view to explaining its work as site manager of the Għajn Tuffieħa area.

The organisation, founded in 1994, has solid experience in the propagation of endemic and indigenous plant and tree species and will share its knowledge and know-how with the public. Also on the agenda are awareness-raising fun activities for children, olive oil tasting, videos and tours of the nursery.

Free refreshments will be served. The NGO invites those interested to check its Facebook page or call 2158 4474 for more information.
