Former President and Prime Minister Eddie Fenech Adami has been moved from Mater Dei's Critical Coronary Care Unit to a normal ward.

When contacted, his son Beppe said his father underwent a coronary angiogram yesterday, and was responding well to treatment.

Dr Fenech Adami, 79, was admitted to hospital complaining of chest pains.

He has had a history of heart problems in the past and had a pacemaker implanted.
